Barquisimeto:
Barquisimeto was one of the oldest Spanish settlements and has grown into Venezuela's fourth largest city. The city exhales a mixture of colonial days and modern times. In 1812, an earthquake nearly removed the city from the map, but it was rebuilt again and some of the old colonial houses were saved. The city center is quite fashionable with its plaza and statue of Bolivar.
Barquisimeto is a city with strong agro industrial roots, surrounded by a sugar cane valley and near to one of the largest vegetables harvest zone in Venezuela (Quibor, Sanare).
